While I could list some problems I have with the game like how long they allow the clinch or how the outside-inside mechanics favor the outside style a little more, it all feels fun and not forced. Even the story mode in Champions felt like a good boxing movie with organic challenges fighters have faced and come out on top from. Head movement, body movement, guards that can be whittled away with precise combos. Skills of the fighters, discipline of grappling, and the mechanics of a submission and take-down just feel more like mini-games thrown in and take away from the fun that good grappling can be.īoxing is second when it comes to my combat sports, but first in video games with the Fight Night series because of how well they handle it. Not saying that striking is easy, but with grappling there are factors that just do not translate into gameplay as well. I know that the UFC games are what EA is going with for combat sport simulators, and I love MMA, but man grappling is just too damn complex to try and make it work in a video game. I still play games with Will to this day. Next game, Asian kid gets KO'd in the second round. GameStop employees signed off on it and voided the first game. It comes down to the cards and not a KO and the Asian kid wins. Asian kid knocks down the other guy in the first round, but the other guy fought back the whole time eventually scoring a knockdown. Asian kid tries that bullshit on this guy, but they were both Ali so he wasn't having that. Sure enough, Asian kid and this guy are the finalists. He was a 20s something black guy named Will and was dominating everyone in the store. Asian kid goes on to play this guy with his entourage in the store. Annoying part was this Asian kid learned the perfect angle to lean where body shots brushed off and headshots were out of reach from tysons little T. I'd get up on you and beat that body slowly wearing you down. Everyone played as Ali, but I was a Tyson. I got called for my pairing against some Asian kid. No idea what I was going to do with it but I still have it. Ended up winning that one and won myself a really nice everlast robe made for fight night. Then the area which was held at the same place, but a few more. You had to win a local round at a GameStop which no one showed for my local so I automatically won. I remember entering the tournament for 50k held by EA. Click here for a list of other gaming subreddits.
