Gene enjoyed the glass industry, traveling to international glass shows in Italy and Germany many times to keep abreast of new technology. In the 60's, he started MGM windows along with w.e. He founded New Century, a boat window manufacturing company in Hendersonville, as well as Decor Glass. He was the founder and president of Nashville Tempered Glass, a full service custom glass fabricator with production facilities in Nashville and Hendersonville. From there he started several successful businesses. He moved to Hendersonville in 1961 to 'start a branch of Dallas Glass. He went on to become a very successful businessman a visionary, with foresight, wisdom, and entrepreneurial skills. He is survived by his loving wife, Sara (Kitty) Gaskins, daughter, Gigi Marie Gaskins, son, Gavin Michael Gaskins, step-son, William Craig Hayes, step-daughter, Amy Elizabeth Hayes, grandchildren, Austin and Ashley Hayes, brothers, Omer Gaskins (Shirley) Marshall Gaskins (Carlene) nephews, Abe Gaskins (Sandra), Zeke Gaskins (Jamie), and Joe Gaskins (Angela).Īfter graduation from the University of Missouri, Gene joined the Marines and after boot camp, he attended Officer Training School where he was honorably discharged due to a medical condition. He is preceded in death by his parents, Erma and Omer Gaskins, a son, Grant Matthew Gaskins, and a brother, Dr. He was born on July 11/ 1935 in Campbell, Missouri, where he grew up. Gene Raymond Gaskins, age 81, passed away on November 23, 2016, after a long and courageous battle with Alzheimer's.
